A cold front is moving in. Mixed rain and snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. Time to put the winters on the cars.

Can't wait until next week when mine are legal here!

Winter tires arn't legal where you are? Or are you talking about Studded?

I've got the studs. I run M+S tires year around, but put studs on the rears in the winter. No, you don't need to tell me that I'm a horrible person for only having two snow tires... I already know...

At least they are on the rear.

Just did that today as well. It was snowing this morning so I figured it was about time.

Agreed! That would be about time. What part of Canada do you hail from that it's snowing already? Rocky Mountain area?

Nope, Cottage Country in Ontario, specifically Haliburton County. It usually seems to snow pretty early there, and I've even seen snow falling in June. The snow had all melted by the afternoon, but there had been a couple of inches yesterday.

At least it melted off. We just got an inch last night (Edmonton). Fortunately I don't have to go anywhere today. I'm pretty sure everyone will have forgotten how to drive in the snow. That seems to happen every year.

It definitely does. I see a lot of people driving around on all seasons too. I'm sure in a couple of years Ontario will make winter tires mandatory. Which I think will be a good thing.

Agreed. I wish they would make winters mandatory in Alberta as well.

I'd say that if you know your vehicle's and tire's abilities and limitations, there's nothing "wrong" with using only two snow tires. Of course four is better, but two's better than none, so long as you drive accordingly.

I've usually had people tell me that none is better than two. I do know their limits and I don't drive like an idiot in the snow, but having them on my back wheels can help me get out of the suburbs a bit easier. I'd love to be able to buy two more, that was my original plan. Should have gotten smaller ones on steelies to make that easier... lesson learned.
